Gene Information

human ... NUF2(83540)

General description

Kinetochore protein Nuf2 (UniProt Q9BZD4; also known as Cell division cycle-associated protein 1, hNuf2, hNuf2R, hsNuf2) is encoded by the NUF2 (also known as CDCA1, NUF2R) gene (Gene ID 83540) in human. Nuf2 is a kinetochore complex component that plays an important role in stabilizing microtubule attachment. Nuf2 knockdown results in kinetochore attachment defects and eventual death of mitotic cells. Nuf2 binds and stabilizes CENP-E in the kinetochore, and both proteins are essential for proper chromosome segregation during mitosis. Nuf2 is also shown to complex with Hec1, and the Nuf2-Hec1 complex is essential for organizing microtubule attachment sites. Nuf2 upregulation is reported in various cancers, and Nuf2 knockdown results in significant cell growth delay and apoptosis among non-small cell lung, colorectal, gastric, and ovarian cancer cell lines.

Specificity

The specificity of clone 28-37 was confirmed by immunoblotting, immunofluorescence microscopy, and immunoprecipitation (Stucke, V.M., et al. (2004). Chromosoma. 113(1):1-15).

Immunogen

His-tagged full-length human Nuf2.

Application

Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A representative lot detected Nuf2 in Nocodazole-treated HeLa cells by immunofluorescence microscopy (Stucke, V.M., et al. (2004). Chromosoma. 113(1):1-15).
Immunoprecipitation Analysis: A representative lot immunoprecipitated Nuf2 (Stucke, V.M., et al. (2004). Chromosoma. 113(1):1-15).
