General description

Kinesins are molecular motors used for intracellular transport and trafficking. They move along microtubule cables powered by the hydrolysis of ATP, thus kinesins are ATPases. The active movement of kinesins supports several cellular functions including mitosis, meiosis and transport of cargo such as axonal transport.

Specificity

Reacts with the heavy chain of kinesin near the N-terminus.

Application

Detect Kinesin using this Anti-Kinesin Antibody, heavy chain, a.a.420-445, clone H2 validated for use in ELISA, IC, IH, IP, FUNC, RIA & WB.
Immunohistochemistry:
A previous lot was used on paraformaldehyde fixed tissue. Also works for EM.

Immunocytochemistry:
A previous lot of this antibody was used in Immunocytochemistry.

Immunoprecipitation:
A previous lot of this antibody was used in Immunoprecipitation.

EIA/RIA:
A previous lot of this antibody was used in RIA.

Immunoblotting: recognizes 124kDa KHC and its proteolytic fragments.

Inhibition of kinesin mediated transport {Brady, et al PNAS 87(3):1061-1065, 1990.
