Natural variations in parenting are associated with differences in expression of several hormones and neuropeptides which may mediate lasting effects on offspring development, like regulation of stress reactivity and social behavior. Using the bi-parental California mouse, we have demonstrated that

Various types of acute/chronic nociceptive stimuli cause neuroendocrine responses such as activation of the hypothalamo-neurohypophysial [oxytocin (OXT) and arginine vasopressin (AVP)] system and hypothalamo-pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis. Chronic multiple-arthritis activates the OXT/AVP system, but the effects of acute mono-arthritis on

Recent work, both clinical and experimental, suggests that the hypothalamic hormone oxytocin (OT) and its receptor (OTR) may be involved in migraine pathophysiology. In order to better understand possible central actions of OT in migraine/headache pathogenesis, we mapped the distribution

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) causes damage to the hypothalamo-hypophyseal axis, leading to endocrine dysregulation in up to 40% of TBI patients. Hence, there is an urgent need to identify non-invasive biomarkers for TBI-associated hypothalamo-hypophyseal pathology. Sushi repeat-containing protein X-linked 2
Neurons in the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus (ARC) that co-express kisspeptin, neurokinin B and dynorphin (KNDy cells) are essential for mammalian reproduction as key regulators of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) secretion. Although multiple endogenous and exogenous signals act indirectly via KNDy neurons
