Questions

1–3 of 3 Questions
  1. What concentration is effective for use if I'm adding to solid media before pouring (similar to 2% w/v agar)? Also, will efficacy be affected if the temperature is briefly raised to ~70 degrees C?

    1 answer
    1. This product is intended for use in the qualitative determination of pH, as compared to a universal color card. The material has not been qualified for use as an indicator in a solid culture medium. Factors such as medium turbidity may impact the performance. It would be up to the end user to determine suitability.
A brief review of the literature indicates phenolphthalein is commonly used in this application and is generally suitable for autoclaving. Please see the link below to a publication that may be of interest:

  2. What is the formulation and the ionic strength of the product 109175?

    1 answer
    1. As per product management, 109175 is qualified as an indicator for analytical titrations. The titrimetric analytical results are calculated based on the consumption of the volumetric solutions. As a result, the concentration of the indicator is not of calculative relevance. Therefore, any composition information such as the concentration of the indicator or indicator solution cannot be disclosed.

  3. Bonjour, Votre produit n'est pas clair, celui-ci contient une seule solution dans la gamme ph4-10 ou bien plusieurs solutions entre ph4 et ph10 ? Merci

    1 answer
    1. This is a single solution that changes to a specific color at each pH value from pH 4.0 - 10.0. The pH can be quickly and accurately determined by comparison with the color values of the comparison scale on the color card. A pre-condition for pH determinations with the indicator solution is that the liquid being investigated is colorless and clear or so weakly colored and turbid that the color of the indicator is not adversely affected.
