Gene Information

General description

Anti-Calcium Sensing Receptor Antibody detects endogenous levels of total Calcium Sensing Receptor protein.
The calcium sensing receptor (CASR) is a 1078 amino acid protein. It has 11 exons and is located on human chromosome 3q13.33-q21.1. CASR belongs to the C family of G protein–coupled receptors. It is located in the parathyroid gland and the thick ascending limb of the Henle loop.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human Calcium Sensing Receptor.

Immunogen Range: 854-903

Biochem/physiol Actions

Calcium sensing receptor (CASR) modulates the activities of cells according to the extracellular calcium concentration. It also plays a major role in controlling parathyroid hormone (PTH) secretion. CASR has a vital role in signal transduction pathways in various tissues like parathyroid gland, kidney, gastrointestinal tract, placenta, pancreas and brain. Mutation in the gene is linked with autosomal dominant hypocalcemic, hypercalciuria and Bartter syndrome.
