R(+)-SCH-23390 hydrochloride has been used:
- for intraperitoneal injection into experimental rats to study the role of D1 receptor in sensitization[1]
- as a D1 receptor-selective antagonist for intracranial drug infusions[2]
- as an antagonist of D1 receptor to study its effect on learning ability in fish[3]
Biochem/physiol Actions
R(+)-SCH-23390 hydrochloride is a selective D1 dopamine receptor antagonist. It has greater binding capacity towards 5-hydroxytryptamine 2 (5-HT2) and 5-HT1C serotonin receptor subtypes in in vitro. R(+)-SCH-23390 has a half-life of about 25 minutes after administration. It is known to possess anti-stereotypic effect and cataleptogenic effect. It also has inhibitory effect on motor activity.[4]
