Descripción

General description

Nordiazepam is a benzodiazepine prescribed for treatment of anxiety and panic attacks. This stable-labeled internal standard is suited for quantitation of nordiazepam levels in urine, serum, or plasma by LC/MS or GC/MS for urine drug testing, clinical toxicology, forensic analysis or isotope dilution methods. Nordiazepam is also a primary urinary metabolite of benzodiazepines diazepam and chlrodiazepoxide.

Application

• Validation in psychoactive drug detection: A study developed a rapid UPLC-MS/MS method to detect multiple psychoactive substances, including Nordiazepam-d5, in post-mortem whole blood samples, highlighting its utility in forensic toxicology and drug monitoring (Barone et al., 2023).
• Application in neonatal drug exposure studies: Research employed liquid chromatography-high-resolution mass spectrometry, utilizing Nordiazepam-d5 as a reference, to determine venlafaxine exposure during gestation through neonatal hair analysis, illustrating its value in pediatric forensic investigations (Favretto et al., 2010).
• Detection in hair samples: The use of Nordiazepam-d5 was explored in a French study for the identification of benzodiazepine consumption in hair samples from drug addicts, demonstrating its effectiveness as a stable isotope-labeled standard for chronic exposure analysis (Vayssette et al., 1996).
• GC/MS analysis for benzodiazepine metabolites: A method was developed to analyze common benzodiazepine metabolites, including Nordiazepam, in urine, showcasing the application of Nordiazepam-d5 in creating more reliable and reproducible results in toxicological testing (West and Ritz, 1993).
