El etonogestrel es un anticonceptivo de progestina de tercera generación. El etonogestrel se utiliza como anticonceptivo en sí mismo y es también el metabolito activo del fármaco desogestrel utilizado en algunos anticonceptivos combinados.

Etonogestrel is a lipophilic molecule. Pharmacokinetics studies reveal that etonogestrel is bound to protein albumin in the blood. This remains independent of both endogenous and exogenous concentration of estradiol.[1]
