Mannose is a monosaccharide.

Aplicación

Mannose has been used in a study to assess in vivo targeting of alveolar macrophages. [1] It has also been used in a study to investigate genetic engineering of the phosphocarrier protein NPr. [2]

Acciones bioquímicas o fisiológicas

Mannose-6-Pis a molecule bound by lectin in the immune system. It is converted to fructose 6-phosphate by mannose phosphate isomerase and is a key targeting signal for acid hydrolase precursor proteins that are transported to lysosomes.
