General description

Myosin-7 (UniProt: Q91Z83; also known as Myosin heavy chain 7, Myosin heavy chain slow isoform, MyHC-slow, Myosin heavy chain, cardiac muscle beta isoform, MyHC-beta) is encoded by the MYH7 gene (Gene ID: 140781) in murine species. Myosins are actin-based motor molecules with ATPase activity essential for muscle contraction. Myosins form regular bipolar thick filaments that, together with actin thin filaments, constitute the fundamental contractile unit of skeletal and cardiac muscle. Myosin-7 is a component of thick filaments of the myofibrils. It contains actin- and ATP-binding sites in its conserved catalytic head domain. Its actin binding region is localized to amino acids 655-677 and 757-771 and the ATP-binding region is localized to amino acids 178-185. Myosin-7 has an N-terminal SH3-like domain (aa 32-81), a myosin motor domain (aa 85-778), and an IQ domain (aa 781-810). Muscle myosin is a hexameric protein that consists of 2 heavy chain subunits (MHC), 2 alkali light chain subunits (MLC) and 2 regulatory light chain subunits (MLC-2). Limited proteolysis of myosin heavy chain produces one light meromyosin (LMM) and one heavy meromyosin (HMM). HMM can be further cleaved into two globular sub fragments (S1) and 1 rod-shaped sub fragment (S2).

Specificity

Clone 4B51E8 is a rat monoclonal antibody that detects murine Myosin-7. It targets an epitope within 39 amino acids from the C-terminall half.

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to 39 amino acids from the C-terminal region of murine Mysoin-7.
