Target description

Complement receptor type 1 (UniProt: P17927; also known as C3b/C4b receptor, CD35) is encoded by the CR1 (also known as C3BR) gene (Gene ID: 1378) in human. CD35 is a single-pass type I membrane glycoprotein of the receptors of complement activation (RCA) family. It is synthesized with a signal peptide (aa 1-42), which is subsequently cleaved off to generate the mature form that contains a long extracellular domain (aa 42-1971) , a transmembrane domain (aa 1972-1996), and a cytoplasmic domain (aa 1997-2039). It contains 30 Sushi domains. Its expression has been reported on erythrocytes, a subset of T-cells, mature B cells, follicular dendritic cells, monocytes, and granulocytes. It serves as a membrane immune adherence receptor that plays a critical role in the capture and clearance of complement -opsonized pathogens by erythrocytes and monocytes/macrophages. Its ligands include C3b, iC3b, and C4b fragments of C3 and C4 proteins. CD35 also acts as an inhibitor of spontaneous complement activation by impairing the formation and function of the alternative and classical pathways C3/C5 convertases, and by serving as a cofactor for the cleavage of C3b to iC3b, C3c, and C3d, C3g, and C4b, C4c, and C4d by factor I. It also plays a role in immune regulation by contributing, upon ligand binding, to the generation of regulatory T cells from activated helper T cells and inn maintaining a balance between normal and pathological B-cell activation. Physical form

Purified mouse monoclonal antibody IgG1 in PBS without azide.

Reconstitution

1.0 mg/mL. Please refer to guidance on suggested starting dilutions and/or titers per application and sample type.

Storage and Stability

Store at -10°C to -25°C. Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.
