General description

The homeobox C4 (HOXC4) gene is mapped on the human chromosome at 12q13.13.

Specificity

Anti-HOXC4 (C-terminal) recognizes human HOXC4 (also known as Hox-3E and CP19).

Application

Anti-HOXC4 (C-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit may be used in:
  • immunoblotting
  • immunoprecipitation
  • immunofluorescence

Biochem/physiol Actions

Homeobox C4 (HOXC4) transcription factor/protein is involved in inducing the function of activation-induced cytosine deaminase (AID). Upregulation of the HOXC4 gene is due to the estrogen-estrogen receptor complexes. HOXC4 gene is expressed in the nucleus of activated human lymphocytes and the increased expression level is observed with the progression of lymphoid differentiation.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Storage and Stability

For continuous use, store at 2–8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in “frost-free” freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilutions should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.

Activation-induced cytidine deaminase (AID) plays a key role in B cell immunoglobulin (Ig) class switch recombination (CSR) and somatic hypermutation (SHM). We have previously reported that the highly conserved homeodomain HoxC4 transcription factor binds to the Aicda (AID gene) promoter

Estrogen enhances antibody and autoantibody responses through yet to be defined mechanisms. It has been suggested that estrogen up-regulates the expression of activation-induced cytosine deaminase (AID), which is critical for antibody class switch DNA recombination (CSR) and somatic hypermutation (SHM)
