General description

These indicators consist of Bacillus stearothermophilus (ATCC 7953) spores impregnated on paper strips, individually placed into envelopes. Bacillus stearothermophilus is a thermophilic species which can grow at 65°C and above. The spores are highly resistant and are used to monitor autoclave performance. These indicators as specified by U.S. military specification MIL-S-36586 are GMP requirements of U.S. FDA.

    1. The strips are packed in a pouch. The dimensions of each pouch (two pouches) are:
      - Length: 79 mm
      - Width: 50 mm

      Within each pouch is the strip bearing spores with the following dimensions:
      - Length: Approximately 34.4 mm
      - Width: 5 mm
      - Thickness: 0.91 mm
