Gene Information

human ... CRTC1(23373)

General description

CREB-regulated transcription coactivator 1 (UniProt Q6UUV9; also known as Mucoepidermoid carcinoma translocated protein 1, TORC-1, Transducer of CREB protein 1, Transducer of regulated cAMP response element-binding protein 1) is encoded by the CRTC1 (also known as KIAA0616, MECT1, TORC1, WAMTP1) gene (Gene ID 23373) in human. CRTC1 belongs to a family of glycosylated Ser/Thr-rich phosphoproteins that bind the basic leucine zipper (bZIP) region of Ca2+/cAMP-responsive element-binding protein (CREB) and function as CREB coactivators. CRTCs participate in CREB-mediated transcriptions of both canonical cellular cAMP response elements (CREs) and the non-canonical viral CREs. CRTC1, specifically, is involved in CREB-mediated transcription of various neuronal immediate early genes (IEGs) as well as CREB-dependent hepatitis B virus (HBV) replication.

Specificity

Expected to react with all three human spliced isoforms

Immunogen

Epitope: Internal (N-terminal half)
GST-tagged recombinant protein corresponding to human CRTC1/TORC-1 sequence within the N-terminal half..

This Anti-CRTC1 Antibody/TORC-1, clone 5F3.1 is validated for use in Western Blotting, Immunohistochemistry, Immunoprecipitation for the detection of CRTC1.
Western Blotting Analysis: 1.0 µg/mL from a representative lot detected CRTC1/TORC-1 in 10 µg of mouse hypothalamus tissue lysate.
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:50-1,000 dilution from a representative lot detected CRTC1/TORC-1 in human cerebral cortex, rat cerebral cortex, human cerebellum, and rat cerebellum tissue.
Immunoprecipitation Analysis: A representative lot immunoprecipitated endogenous CRTC1/TORC-1 from mouse hippocampus tissue lysates, as well as exogenously expressed murine CRTC1/TORC-1, but not CRTC2/TORC-2, from lysates of transfected HEK293 cells (Courtesy of Dr. Carlos A. Saura , Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain).
