General description

Sodium Chloride peptone buffer with 1% Tween® 80 is designed as a general diluent used for microbial examination of non-sterile pharmaceutical products. The low peptone concentration maintains viability without promoting growth. Presence of Sodium chloride maintains the osmotic balance of the medium and ensures cell integrity.
The neutral pH range is optimum for the viability of microorganisms′ present. The medium aims at maximum recovery of microorganisms present in the test sample.
The addition of Tween® 80(polysorbate) assists the suspension of hydrophobic substances and helps neutralize disinfectant agents like quaternary ammonium compounds, iodine, and parabens.

Application

Sodium Chloride peptone buffer with 1% Tween® 80 is used for microbial examination of non-sterile pharmaceutical samples. Additionally, the product can be used for dilution, washing solution and sample preparation.
