Gene Information

General description

Histone H2A is one of the 5 main histone proteins involved in the structure of chromatin in eukaryotic cells. Featuring a main globular domain and a long N terminal tail H2A is involved with the structure of the nucleosomes of the ′beads on a string′ structure.

Specificity

Broad species cross-reactivity is expected.
Recognizes Histone H2A, Mr 14 kDa.

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated, synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 88-97 (IRNDEELNKL-C) of human Histone H2A.

Application

Anti-Histone H2A (acidic patch) Antibody is a Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody for detection of Histone H2A (acidic patch) also known as histone 2-H2ac, histone IIa & has been validated in ChIP & WB.
Immunofluorescence:
Recommend Anti-phospho-Histone H2A.X (Ser139), clone JBW301, catalog #05-636.

Quality

Routinely evaluated by western blot on acid extracts from HeLa cell lysate.

Western Blot Analysis:
1:1000-1:5000 dilutions of this lot detected Histone H2A (acidic patch) in acid extracts from HeLa cell lysate.

Target description

14 kDa

Physical form

Rabbit antiserum polyclonal IgG in buffer containing 0.05% sodium azide. Frozen solution.
Unpurified

Storage and Stability

Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Handling Recommendations: Upon first thaw, and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.

Analysis Note

Control
HeLa cell extract.
