General description

Native urokinase from human urine. A thrombolytic agent that converts plasminogen to plasmin. A mixture of high molecular weight (54 kDa) and low molecular weight (33 kDa) urokinase.
Note: 1 unit = 1 CTA unit = 0.7 Ploug units. 1 KU = 1000 units.

One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme equal to an international standard tested by the fibrinolytic method of Johnson, et al.

Physical form

Lyophilized from 200 mM mannitol, 100 mM NaCl, 50 mM Tris-HCl, 0.1% PEG, pH 7.5.

Preparation Note

Prepared from urine of individuals that have been shown by certified tests to be negative for HBsAg and for antibodies to HIV and HCV.

Reconstitution

Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-70°C). Stock solutions are stable for up to 6 months at -70°C.
Reconstitute in distilled H₂O
