General description

Guard columns are placed before the analytical column to protect and prevent harmful materials entering into the latter. It also helps as a backup to the in-line filter and also checks for leak through filter. The most suitable are short cartridge which is inserted into the cartridge holder.

Application

SUPELCOSIL LC-18 Supelguard Cartridge was used as guard column for Supelcosil LC-18 HPLC column to analyze glucose tetrasaccharides in blood and urine samples using HPLC-electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HPLC-ESI-MS). It was also suitable for analysing polar compounds in non-polar matrices using gas chromatography separation.
