General description

Although the Chromolith® columns are well known for their robustness and longevity, guard columns are available to prolong the lifespan of Chromolith® analytical columns even further. These guard cartridges require a special holder.

Chromolith® HighResolution RP-18 endcapped 5-4.6 guard cartridges are extremely easy to use. The guard cartridges are simply added directly in front of the main column to protect it from chemical or mechanical contamination. Due to the benefits of monolithic technology, and the convenience of Chromolith® guard columns, they are also popular for use with classical particulate columns. Moreover, guard columns can be used as trap columns when large sample volumes are to be injected. Guard columns should be changed frequently in order to avoid excessive accumulation of impurities.

Chromolith® columns are made of monolithic silica with a characteristic bimodal pore structure.

Chromolith® HighResolution RP-18 endcapped 5-4.6 guard cartridges are used with the Chromolith® Guard Cartridge Holder 5 mm x 4.6 mm [1.52032]

  • A Novel and Sensitive LC-MS/MS Method for the Quantitation of Ceftiofur in Pharmaceutical Preparations and Milk Samples.: This study, conducted by Levent S, Özcan S, Geven A, and Can NÖ, presents a new LC-MS/MS method utilizing Chromolith® HighResolution RP-18 endcapped columns. The method provides high sensitivity and specificity for the quantitation of ceftiofur, a veterinary antibiotic, in both pharmaceutical preparations and milk samples, demonstrating its potential for robust analytical applications in pharmaceutical and food safety contexts (Levent et al., 2021).
