Application

1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium dicyanamide ([C2mim][N(CN)2]) is an ionic liquid that can be used:
  • In the desulfurization process. It efficiently extracts thiophene and dibenzothiophene from fuel oils.
  • A solvent as well as an active base catalyst for the O-acetylation of alcohols and carbohydrates.
  • As an electrolyte for electrochemical applications with carbon nanotube (CNT) as electrodes.
  • In the extractive distillation of the solvent mixtures.
