Bitertanol is a chiral triazole fungicide used as a foliar spray or seed treatment for its curative and protective action against scab, Monilinia spp, rusts, powdery mildew, black spot, leaf spot, and other diseases for different fruits, vegetables, ornamentals, and cereals. It is a non-systemic fungicide that acts as an ergosterol biosynthesis inhibitor by targeting the activity of C14-demethylase and preventing the demethylation of sterol.
The approval for the use of bitertanol within European Union (EU) member states was withdrawn by means of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 767/2013. But a default maximum residue limit of 0.01 mg/kg is applicable for the presence of bitertanol in plant protection products according to the Regulation (EC) No 396/200.
Application
Bitertanol CRM may also be used as given below:
- Separation and determination of bitertanol by ultra-performance liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) to study its stereoselective degradation in tomato samples
- Analysis of four stereoisomers of bitertanol in apple, pear, tomato, cucumber, and soil samples using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)
- Multiresidue determination of 133 pesticides in commercially available chenpi samples by a combination of modified QuEChERS method and gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS)
- Development of a method to determine eight triazole fungicides and their enantiomers in tomatoes, apples, peppers, eggplants, cucumber, and Chinese cabbage samples using aqueous two-phase extraction (ATPE) and two-dimensional liquid chromatography (2D-LC)
- Using a modified QuEChERS method to extract 30 pesticides from raw bovine milk samples including a clean-up founded on dispersive solid-phase extraction (d-SPE) and the use of primary secondary amine (PSA) and zirconium dioxide (ZrO2)-based sorbents for the determination by high-performance liquid chromatography with diode-array detection (HPLC-DAD)
- Simultaneous analysis of 20 triazole fungicides and plant growth regulators in cucumber samples by using molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) as a sorbent during the solid phase extraction (SPE), followed by high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS)
