Biotin is a carboxylase co-enzyme that regulates the metabolism of amino acids, glucose and fatty acids. This co-enzyme has been implicated in processes such as immune responses, cell division and fetal growth. Biotin may also be involved in the epigenetic modifications of chromatin. Goat Anti-Biotin-Alkaline Phosphatase antibody is specific for biotin when tested against biotin-goat IgG, goat IgG, and KLH.
Specificity and reactivity are determined by Ouchterlony Double Diffusion and immunoelectrophoresis versus the biotin-carrier protein complex. No reactivity is observed versus the carrier protein.
Immunogen
Biotin-KLH conjugate
Application
ELISA Assays using human spleen cells were performed using alkaline phosphatase-conjugated goat anti-biotin as the secondary antibody with incubation for 1.5 hours at room temperature. Purified IgG from K/BxN, BxSB or C57BL/6 mouse serum was analyzed by western blot using alkaline phosphatase-conjugated goat anti-biotin antibody as the secondary.
Goat Anti-Biotin-Alkaline Phosphatase antibody has been used for dot blot assays. The product can also be used for ELISA (1:30,000) and immunohistochemistry (1:50).
In some applications, localization of biotinylated probes with avidin produces high background levels. Anti-biotin reagents may be substituted for avidin to decrease non-specific binding.
May be substituted for avidin to decrease non-specific binding.
Physical form
Solution in 0.05 M Tris, pH 8.0, containing 10 mM glycine, 1 mM MgCl2, 1% bovine serum albumin, 50% glycerol, and 15 mM sodium azide

Nanomedicine directed at diagnosis and treatment of infections can benefit from innovations that have substantially increased the variety of available multifunctional nanoplatforms. Here, we targeted a spherical, icosahedral viral nanoplatform to a pathogenic, biofilm-forming bacterium, Staphylococcus aureus. Density of binding

IgG antibodies are potent inducers of proinflammatory responses. During autoimmune diseases such as arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus, IgG autoantibodies are responsible for the chronic inflammation and destruction of healthy tissues by cross-linking Fc receptors on innate immune effector cells.

In mammals, biotin serves as coenzyme for four carboxylases, which play essential roles in the metabolism of glucose, amino acids, and fatty acids. Biotin deficiency causes decreased rates of cell proliferation, impaired immune function, and abnormal fetal development. Evidence is
