Application
- Biodegradable microparticle production: A novel green process employing CO2 medium was developed for the production of biodegradable microparticles encapsulating TGF-beta1, utilizing tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol polyethylene glycol ether, enhancing the sustained release properties of the therapeutic proteins (Swed et al., 2015).
- Nanocarrier devices for targeted drug delivery: Tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol polyethylene glycol ether was utilized in the formulation of photosensitizer-loaded nanocarrier devices, bridging laboratory and large-scale production, and demonstrating potential in targeted drug delivery systems (Beyer et al., 2015).
- Cardiac tissue-engineering: In cardiac tissue engineering, tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol polyethylene glycol ether was incorporated into a thermosensitive hydrogel for releasing growth factors from pharmacologically active microcarriers, presenting a biomimetic 3D scaffold that supports cardiac cell growth (Karam et al., 2014).
- Enhanced pharmacokinetics in drug delivery: A self-microemulsifying drug delivery system incorporating tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol polyethylene glycol ether demonstrated improved pharmacokinetics for tacrolimus, suggesting its efficacy in bioavailability enhancement (von Suesskind-Schwendi et al., 2013).
