General description

Singlepath® Campylobacter is a rapid diagnostic test, designed to detect Campylobacter bacteria in various food samples. Campylobacter is a genus of bacteria that can cause human infections, leading to symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. The Singlepath® Campylobacter is an immunochromatographic rapid test based on gold-labeled antibodies to detect the presence of a specific antigen, in this case, the Campylobacter bacteria. The test includes a nitrocellulose membrane strip that is coated with antibodies specific to Campylobacter antigens. When the sample is applied to the test strip, any Campylobacter antigens present will bind to the antibodies on the strip, developing a visible test line. The test takes approximately 20 minutes to complete, and the results are interpreted based on the presence or absence of the test line. No additional equipment expenditure is needed.

Application

Singlepath® Campylobacter test is used to detect Campylobacter contaminations and growth in food samples. This product can also be used for pathogen testing in industrial microbiology. The test has been validated and approved by AOAC-PTM.

Questions

  1. Hello- Does this product come with diluent, or do I have to purchase that separately? Is there an enrichment process required before using the lateral flow assay, if so how long does that take?

    1 answer
    1. The enrichment medium must be purchased separately: 1041430001 Bolton Broth and 1041430001 Bolton Broth Selective Supplement.

      Sample Material / Sample Enrichment
      • Add 25g solid sample to 225ml Bolton enrichment broth in a 250ml polystyrene bottle or 25ml liquid sample to 200ml Bolton enrichment broth in a 250ml polystyrene bottle.
      • If necessary, transfer to the filter unit of a stomacher bag and homogenize in stomacher for l minute.
      • Transfer homogenate back to 250ml polystyrene bottle, ensuring a headspace of 10-15 % is provided (see Note below).
      • Discard the stomacher bag and filter unit.
      • Incubate for 4hr at 37 degC.
      • Transfer to 41.5 degC and incubate for a further 44hr.

Note: If headspace is more than 15%, incubate enrichment culture microaerophilically, using a controlled atmosphere chamber. Anaerocult C gas packs (1.32383.0001 or 1.32370.0001) can be used to generate this.
