Application

Nitrogen-15N2 (15N Labeled nitrogen) can be used:
  • In nitrogen fixation experiments to monitor the resulting metabolites in an organism.
  • 15N2 pulse-chase experiments to understand the route of transport of fixed nitrogen from the nodule to the shoot in plants.
  • To quantify biological N2 production in agricultural soil.

Packaging

250 mL and 500 mL quantities are packaged in a 25 mL Sure/Pac cylinder with brass 1/4" male NPT valve. Nominal gas pressures at 21ºC are 135 psig for 250 mL and 275 psig for 500 mL.

Quantities of 1 L and 5 L are packaged in a 450 mL carbon steel lecture bottle with brass CGA 110/180 valve. Nominal gas pressures at 21ºC are 20 psig for I L and 155 psig for 5 L.

Cylinder pressures are slightly above atmospheric pressure. Care must be taken when extracting this product from the cylinder.
All gas volumes are quoted at Standard Temperature and Pressure (STP) and not at Normal Temperature and Pressure (NTP). One STP Liter is 7.7% more gas than one NTP Liter.
This product may be available from bulk stock and can be packaged on demand. For information on pricing, availability and packaging, please contact Stable Isotopes Customer Service.

Ammonium is a central nutrient in aquatic systems. Yet, cell-specific ammonium assimilation among diverse functional plankton is poorly documented in field communities. Combining stable-isotope incubations (15N-ammonium, 15N2 and 13C-bicarbonate) with secondary-ion mass spectrometry, we quantified bulk ammonium dynamics, N2-fixation and
