Gene Information

human ... LGALS3BP(3959)

General description

Lectin galactoside-binding soluble 3 binding protein (LGALS3BP), a tumor-secreted antigen, is a large oligomeric and highly glycosylated protein. The LGALS3BP gene is located on human chromosome 17q25.

Immunogen

LGALS3BP purified recombinant protein

Biochem/physiol Actions

Lectin galactoside-binding soluble 3 binding protein (LGALS3BP) also known as Mac-2 binding protein (M2BP) acts as a ligand of the lactose-specific S-type lectin, galectin-3. Mac-2 binding protein (M2BP) participates in cell adhesion and in tumor progression. Serum Mac-2 binding protein glycosylation isomer (M2BPGi) is considered as an important marker to study the criticality of liver disease.

Physical form

Solution in Dulbecco′s Modified Eagle′s Medium with 10% fetal calf serum and 15 mM sodium azide.
