The aldehyde sensor is composed of an aromatic hydrazine that rapidly reacts with an aldehyde to form a hydrozone. This hydrozone further reacts with a neighboring amino group to form a chromophore with maximum absorption at 550 nm. The concentration of aldehyde is proportional to the absorption intensity at 550 nm. The 2X working solution has a concentration of 32 mM.
