General description

Deoxycholic acid is a bile acid that may affect intracellular signaling and gene expression.

Application

Deoxycholic acid has been used in a study to assess how physiological concentrations of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) vs. deoxycholic acid (DCA) affect barrier function in mouse intestinal tissue. It has also been used in a study to characterize bile formation in a mouse model with hepatic disruption of the cytochrome p450 (CYP) oxidoreductase gene.
