Trifluralin is a pre-emergence herbicide belonging to the dinitroaniline class. It is used in various crops to control many annual types of grass and broad-leaved weeds. It is a commercially available herbicide that has been used extensively on soybeans, cotton crops, and some ornamental plants.
As per Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009, repealing the directive 91/414/EEC, trifluralin is not approved for use in the European Union. A maximum residue limit (MRL) of 0.01 mg/kg is applicable for the presence of trifluralin in fresh/frozen fruits, and tree nuts, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2015/552.
Application
The trifluralin CRM may also find the following uses:
- Photocatalytic degradation of trifluralin by tin(IV) oxide-doped cuprous oxide crystals as photo-catalyst using UV-vis spectroscopy
- Sensitive electrochemical determination of trifluralin at a disposable pencil graphite electrode using differential pulse (DP) voltammetric method
- To develop and validate a QuEChERS method for trifluralin analysis in wind-eroded sediments coupled with a gas chromatography-electron capture detector(GC-ED)
- Electrochemical detection of trifluralin in untreated human plasma samples using reduced graphene oxide modified by polyethyleneimine and silver nanoparticles
- Degradation of bromoxynil and trifluralin in ultrapure and natural water solutions by direct photolysis under ultraviolet (UV) light and an advanced oxidation process combining UV and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)
