General description

Recombinant α1-3,6-galactosidase expressed in E. coli. Catalyzes the hydrolysis of α1,3-linked and α1,6-linked, non-reducing terminal galactose from complex carbohydrates and glycoproteins. Particularly efficient in removing α-linked galactose under conditions where the pH must be neutral or above, as with live cells.

Toxicity: Standard Handling (A)

Unit Definition

One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will catalyze the release of 1.0 µmol p-nitrophenol from p-nitrophenyl-α-D-galactopyranoside per min at 25°C, pH 6.5.

Physical form

In 50 mM sodium phosphate buffer, pH 7.5.
