General description

MDMA is an illicit drug known by a variety of street names, including "Ecstasy," "E," "X," and "XTC". An analog of the phenethylamine and amphetamine classes, MDMA is abused for its euphoric and psychedelic effects. This stable-labeled internal standard is suitable for quantitation of MDMA levels in urine, serum, or plasma by LC/MS or GC/MS for urine drug testing, clinical toxicology, forensic analysis, or isotope dilution methods.

Application

  • MDMA-D₅ internal standard for forensic toxicology: A study demonstrated the utilization of MDMA-D₅ as an internal standard in the detection of nutmeg abuse through gas chromatography-mass spectrometric screening of urine, showcasing its critical role in toxicological analysis (Neukamm et al., 2020).

  • Stable isotope-labeled MDMA for pharmacokinetic studies: Research highlighted a one-step derivatization-extraction method using MDMA-D₅ for rapid analysis of amphetamines and cathinones in oral fluid by GC-MS, emphasizing its utility in fast and efficient drug monitoring (Mohamed, 2017).

  • Synthetic MDMA derivative for forensic toxicology: A publication discussed the identification and quantification of synthetic cathinones in hair by LC-MS/MS, where MDMA-D₅ served as a reference material, underlining its importance in long-term substance abuse monitoring (Alvarez et al., 2017).

  • Deuterated MDMA reference material for biochemistry research: A study utilized hollow-fiber liquid-phase microextraction of amphetamine-type stimulants in human hair samples, employing MDMA-D₅ to enhance analytical precision and reliability in biochemical assays (do Nascimento Pantaleão et al., 2012).

  • Quantitative mass spectrometry MDMA: Evidence of mephedrone chronic abuse was provided through hair analysis using GC/MS, with MDMA-D₅ being crucial for establishing methodological accuracy and drug profiling (Martin et al., 2012).
