General description

Chromocult® Coliform Agar Kit contains:
ReadyPlate CCA plates of 55mm diameter is a selective and differential chromogenic culture medium. It is a standard medium in water testing for simultaneous detection and enumeration of coliform and E. coli by the combination of two chromogenic substrates. The interaction of selected peptones, pyruvate, sorbitol, and phosphate buffer promotes rapid colony growth, even for sub-lethally injured coliform bacteria. The growth of Gram-positive bacteria, as well as certain Gram-negative bacteria, is inhibited by the presence of Tergitol 7, with no negative effect on the growth of coliform bacteria. E. coli cleaves both Salmon-GAL and X-glucuronide so that positive colonies take on a dark-blue to violet color. These are easily distinguished from other coliform colonies, which have a pink to red color.
EZ-Pak Filters are ready-to-use, sterile filters made of Mixed cellulose esters (MCE) with 0.45 μm pore size, white, gridded, and 50mm diameter. These filters possess high recoveries.

Application

Chromocult® Coliform Agar Kit contains 55mm plates with EZPAK 0.45 μm white gridded membrane for the simultaneous enumeration of coliform and E.coli using the Membrane Filtration method in drinking water, waters with low bacterial background flora.
