General description

Oenothein B is a dimeric ellagitannin compound which is found commonly in genusOenothera.

Application

Oenothein B may be used as a reference standard for the determination of oenothein B in aqueous extracts of Epilobii angustifolli herba and Epilobium angustifolium L. by high performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC)-densitometry, in plant materials by HPLC combined with diode array detector (DAD) and mass spectrometry (MS) and in Eucalyptus globulus leaves by HPLC-DAD coupled to electrospray ionization (EIS) MS.
