General description

N-Desmethylclozapine is an active metabolite of Clozapine, an atypical antipsychotic drug used for treatment of schizophrenia. Clozapine is sold under the trade names Clozaril® and FrazaClo in the US. This Certified Snap-N-Spike® Solution is suitable for use in urine drug testing, clinical toxicology, forensic analysis, and clinical monitoring by LC-MS/MS or GC/MS.

Application

  • Pharmacokinetic analysis of clozapine and N-Desmethylclozapine: A study conducted by Mach et al. (2024) analyzed clinical and pharmacological factors that influence serum levels of clozapine and its metabolite N-Desmethylclozapine, offering insights into dosing strategies and metabolic pathways relevant to schizophrenia treatment (Mach et al., 2024).

  • Chromatographic profiling for clozapine and its metabolites: Hrichi et al. (2024) reviewed chromatographic methods for analyzing antipsychotic drugs, including clozapine and N-Desmethylclozapine, to improve the accuracy of pharmacokinetic studies and enhance drug monitoring capabilities (Hrichi et al., 2024).

  • Influence of lifestyle factors on clozapine metabolism: Research by Flanagan et al. (2024) explored the impact of coffee and chocolate ingestion on the plasma concentrations of clozapine and its metabolite N-Desmethylclozapine, providing data crucial for understanding how dietary habits affect antipsychotic drug levels (Flanagan et al., 2024).

We have previously reported that N-desmethylclozapine (NDMC), a major clozapine metabolite, acts as a δ-opioid receptor agonist. Here, we show that in different cellular systems NDMC regulates protein kinase B/Akt (Akt) signaling through the activation of δ-opioid receptors. In Chinese
