General description

Hydrogenated egg PC (HPC) is made up of saturated fatty acids.

Application

Hydro Egg PC (hydrogenated egg lecithin) may be used:
  • in vesicles/liposomes for permeability studies to study the effect of MccJ25 on the permeability of phospholipid vesicles
  • to prepare small unilamellar vesicles (SUV) and multilamellar vesicles (MLV)
  • to prepare giant unilamellar vesicles
  • to prepare lipid emulsion to study the effects of phosphatidylcholine (PC) from different sources on intestinal absorption of cholesterol

Biochem/physiol Actions

Hydrogenated egg PC/ L-α-phosphatidylcholine (HPC) is a physiological surfactant.

This paper reports the effects of microcin J25 (MccJ25) on the microviscosity and permeability of phospholipid vesicles of different compositions. The results obtained indicate that MccJ25 interacts with egg L-alpha-phosphatidylcholine (PC) vesicles as demonstrated by peptide intrinsic fluorescence determinations. The
