Tetrachlorvinphos is a non-systemic insecticide and acaricide that belongs to the group of organophosphates. It is an acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor causing hyperexcitation and impeding the functioning of the nervous system. Tetrachlorvinphos is used for protection against Diptera in fruit and Lepidoptera in fruit, cotton, maize, rice, tobacco, and vegetables; control of Muscidae in dairies and livestock barns; control of ectoparasites in poultry; control of insects in stored products and insects that damage forests and pastures.
According to the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 2076/2002 of 20th November 2002, tetrachlorvinphos is not approved for use in the European Union (EU) as a plant protection agent, following the Regulation (EC) No. 1107/2009.
Application
Tetrachlorvinphos CRM may also be used as given below:
- Trace analysis of 160 pesticides in 50 honeybee wax combs samples by gas chromatography combined with triple quadrupole mass spectrometry for quantitation, following a QuEChERS-based method for extraction
- Multi-residue analysis of 213 pesticides in edible oil samples using an analytical approach combining QuEChERS methodology with gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS)
- Detection of 379 pesticides in human serum samples extracted by QuEChERS method― using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)
- Multi-residue analysis of 327 pesticides and 17 veterinary drug residues in eight animal feed samples using liquid- and gas- chromatography combined with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS)
- Development of a semi-automated method for the analysis of 261 pesticides and 41 environmental contaminants in catfish muscle samples by QuEChERS sample extraction and low-pressure GC-MS/MS and UHPLC-MS/MS, following an automated robotic micro-SPE clean-up
- Method development and validation for the determination of 360 pesticide residues in brown rice, orange, spinach, and potato samples by a modified QuEChERS protocol combined with gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS)
