General description

Safranin O (C.I. 50240) for microscopy Certistain®, is a dry dye that is used for the preparation of a staining solution for e.g. Gram stain procedures in smears and sections of human origin in bacteriology. The Gram staining allows a fast differentiation of bacteria in Gram-positive and Gram-negative. The mureine structure of the bacteria walls is the basis of the color affinity. Gram-negative bacteria will be counterstained by Gram′s safranin O solution and appear orange. As a CERTISTAIN® dye it is chemically quality-certified according to highest standards and strict specifications.
