Promethazine is a phenothiazine analog prescribed for treatment of motion sickness, nausea, vomiting and allergies. This Certified Reference Material is suitable for GC/MS or LC/MS methods in promethazine testing for forensic analysis, urine drug testing, or clinical toxicology. Sold under the trade names Phenergan® and Phenadoz®, promethazine has antihistamine, sedative, and mild antipsychotic effects. The compound has also been been found in the recreational drug "Purple Drank."
