Application

The interaction of Trifluperidol hydrochloride with NMDA receptors was studied in rat brain buffy coat membranes.[1]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Trifluperidol is a dopamine receptor antagonist with antipsychotic effects used in the treatment of schizophrenia.[2] This neuroleptic penetrates the brain and also affects the glial cells leading to increased release of proinflammatory cytokines.[3] It also alters the metabolism of carbohydrates and amino acids in the brain cortex.[4]
