Gene Information

human ... CDH13(1012)

General description

Monoclonal Anti-CDH13 (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the hybridoma CAD-5 produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from BALB/c mice. Cadherin 13 (CDH13) is a member of the cadherins multigene family of single-chain glycoprotein receptors. It is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)- anchored member and a low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-binding protein usually found in smooth muscle. CDH13 is present in the brain and cardiovascular system. It is mapped on the human chromosome at 16q23.3.

Specificity

Monoclonal Anti-CDH13 recognizes human Cadherin 13.

Immunogen

N-terminal His-tagged recombinant protein of human Cadherin 13

Application

Monoclonal Anti-CDH13 antibody produced in mouse may be used in:
  • immunoblotting
  • immunoprecipitation
  • immunohistochemistry

Biochem/physiol Actions

Cadherin (CDH) is involved in mediating Ca2+-dependent cell-cell adhesion. Abnormalities in the CDH13 gene have been identified in human malignancies. Promoter methylation of CDH13 results in gene silencing in non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC). CDH13 is involved in cell migration, axon guidance and neurite growth. It is also associated with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). CDH13 is also involved in autism spectrum disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and depression.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide

Storage and Stability

For continuous use, store at 2–8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilution samples should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
