General description

Propranolol is a sympatholytic, non-selective beta blocker used to treat hypertension, anxiety and panic. The drug is sold under numerous brand names such as Inderal^®, Avlocardyl, Deralin, and Dociton. This internal standard is suitable for quantitation of propranolol levels in patient samples using LC/MS or GC/MS for applications in clinical toxicology, diagnostic testing, forensic analysis, pharmaceutical research and isotope dilution methods.

Application

• Colorimetric analysis platform based on thin layer chromatography for monitoring gluten cross-contamination in food industry.: This research introduced a colorimetric analysis platform using thin-layer chromatography to monitor gluten cross-contamination in the food industry. Sigma-Aldrich TLC plates facilitated precise detection, enhancing food safety and quality control measures (Martinez-Aviño A et al., 2024).


• Contaminant Spot Check and Removal Assay (ContamSPOT) for Mass Spectrometry Analysis.: This study developed the ContamSPOT assay, leveraging thin-layer chromatography for the spot check and removal of contaminants before mass spectrometry analysis. Using Sigma-Aldrich TLC plates, the method significantly improved the accuracy of mass spectrometry results in analytical chemistry applications (Smeriglio N et al., 2024).
