General description

Poly[(phenyl isocyanate)-co-formaldehyde] (P-MDI) is a chain extender with one isocyanate group attached to each of the phenyl groups. It is a liquid polymer that is used to maintain uniformity in the cross-linking reaction between different polymeric units during the curing process. Its crosslinking sites (−NCO) allow it to be utilized in the preparation of polyurethanes.
Poly[(phenyl isocyanate)-co-formaldehyde] (PPIF) is an oligomer that can be used as a chain extender and a cross-linker that forms amide linkages (−NCO). It is highly reactive with hydroxyl groups, which facilitate the formation of a polyurethane network.

Application

P-MDI is an isocyanate that can be used in the preparation of polyurethane resins, films and foams. It can form mechanically robust films which are resistant to solvents and can be used as OTFT based electrodes in biomaterials based applications.
PPIF can be blended with a diol to form a polyurethane mixture with characteristic −NCO peaks. It can also be used as a cross-linker to form high tensile dielectric materials for potential application in organic electronics.

Features and Benefits

High viscosity, high functionality oligomer.
