Thiofanox is a systemic insecticide and acaricide that belongs to the group of oxime carbamates. It is an acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor causing hyperexcitation and impeding the functioning of the nervous system. Thiofanox is used for protection against black bean aphids, beet leaf miners, flea beetles, and pygmy mangold beetles in beets; flea beetles in rape; aphids, capsids, flea beetles, Colorado beetles, and leafhoppers in potatoes; aphids, midges, flea beetles, soil-inhabiting larvae, and spider mites in cotton and aphids; and spider mites in floriculture.
According to the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 2076/2002 of 20th November 2002, thiofanox is not approved for use in the European Union (EU) as a plant protection agent, following the Regulation (EC) No. 1107/2009. But a default maximum residue limit of 0.01 mg/kg has been set for the presence of thiofanox in products of plant and animal origin, according to Art 18(1)(b) Reg 396/2005.
Application
Thiofanox CRM may also be used as given below:
- 126 pesticide residues in chicken samples using modified QuEChERS for sample pre-treatment and ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography combined with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UHPLC-QToF-MS) for quantification
- Multi-residue analysis of 423 pesticides, consisting of their isomers and metabolites in 124 green tea (C. sinensis) nutraceutical products by two-dimensional gas chromatography coupled with time-of-flight mass spectrometry
- QuEChERS based extraction and ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometric (UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS) analysis of LC-amenable pesticides in green tea (C. sinensis) based nutraceutical products
- Multi-residue analysis of 80 pesticide residues in 30 aquaculture water samples by single step solid phase extraction (SPE)-cleanup and ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-Q/Orbitrap mass spectrometry
