General description
γ-Globulin molecules is made up of four polypeptide chains, of which two have molecular weights of about 50,000 and two of about 20,000. These chains are cross-linked by disulfide bonds.
Application
γ-Globulins from sheep were used to study the influence of HDL-cholesterol-elevating drugs on the in vitro activity of the HDL receptor SR-BI. It was used in a study to test the interstitial transport of rabbit and sheep antibodies in normal and neoplastic tissues. It was also used in a study to test the enhanced progesterone and testosterone secretion, and depressed estradiol secretion in vitro from small white follicle cells of incubating turkey hens.

Cancer research, 50(12), 3487-3492 (1990-06-15)
Interstitial transport of fluorescein isothiocyanate-conjugated nonspecific polyclonal rabbit and sheep IgG was studied in normal (mature granulation) and neoplastic (VX2 carcinoma) tissues grown in a rabbit ear chamber. The interstitial concentration gradients after i.v. injection were analyzed to yield effective

This study was conducted to determine if lower steroid secretion by the small white follicles in incubating turkey hens contributes to lower circulating steroid concentrations during this time. Turkey hens were grouped as either laying or incubating. Serum samples and

Treatment of atherosclerotic disease often focuses on reducing plasma LDL-cholesterol or increasing plasma HDL-cholesterol. We examined in vitro the effects on HDL receptor [scavenger receptor class B type I (SR-BI)] activity of three classes of clinical and experimental plasma HDL-cholesterol-elevating
