General description

A cytochalasin B-sensitive carrier located in the membrane, GLUT-5 appears to be primarily functional as a fructose transporter. It is expressed in the small intestine, and is also found in the skeletal muscle, kidney and adipose tissue but at significantly reduced levels.

Specificity

Recognizes GLUT-5.

Immunogen

Epitope: C-terminus
Synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminus of rat GLUT-5 (aa 490-502) coupled to KLH. The immunogen sequence used is only 53% conserved in mouse.
