General description

Ecgonine methyl ester is a major urinary metabolite of cocaine, a popular illicit drug well known as "crack" or the free base form of cocaine that can be smoked. This stable-labeled internal standard is suitable for use in cocaine testing or isotope dilution methods for GC/MS or LC/MS applications in urine drug testing, clinical toxicology or forensic analysis.

Application

  • Refinement of cocaine metabolite analysis: Ecgonine methyl ester-D₃ is used as a deuterated internal standard to spike urine, plasma, or serum in a method developed for the quantitation of cocaine and its metabolites in urine and blood using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS (Fleming et al., 2010).
