General description

Pivotal role of potassium channel is maintaining cell volume, membrane potential and neuronal excitability. Two families of potassium channel exists- one with inwardly rectifying potassium channel and the other with voltage sensing (KV) big conductance, calcium activated (BKCA ) small conductance and calcium activated (SK) potassium channel. KV1.5 channel is O2 sensitive, so hypoxia inhibits the expression of KV1.5 channel through 15-HETE pathway. Anti-Potassium Channel Kv1.5 antibody reacts specifically with full length Kv1.5 protein of rat and mouse.

Immunogen

GST fusion protein from the C-terminal of mouse potassium channel Kv1.5 corresponding to amino acids 513-602.

Application

Anti-Potassium Channel Kv1.5 antibody can be used in immunocytochemistry, immunoblotting and immunofluorescence.

Physical form

Lyophilized from phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 1% bovine serum albumin, 5% sucrose and 0.05% sodium azide.

Hypoxia initiated pulmonary vasoconstriction is due to the inhibition of voltage-gated K(+) (K(V)) channels. But the mechanism is unclear. We have evidence that hypoxia activates 15-lipoxygenase (15-LOX) in distal pulmonary arteries and increases the formation of 15-hydroxyeicosatetraenoate (15-HETE). 15-HETE-induced pulmonary
