General description
Human metapneumovirus (hMPV) is a member of the pneumovirinae subfamily of paramyxoviruses, first described in 2001 from pediatric respiratory specimens in the Netherlands. It is an enveloped pleomorphic virus with a single negative-strand RNA genome. Two major serotypes, A and B, have been described. Several studies identified hMPV in specimens worldwide, and estimated that by age 5 years 70% of children have developed antibodies to hMPV.
Specificity
Specific to the nuclear protein. Reactive with all sub-types; A1, A2, B1, B2.
Application
Detect Human Metapneumovirus using this Anti-Human Metapneumovirus Antibody, clone 36 validated for use in ELISA, FC & IF.

Membrane-associated RING-CH8 (MARCH8) impairs the cell surface expression of envelope glycoproteins from different viruses, reducing their incorporation into virions. Using stable cell lines with inducible MARCH8 expression, we show that MARCH8 did not alter susceptibility to influenza A virus (IAV)

It is well established that glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) function as attachment factors for human metapneumovirus (HMPV), concentrating virions at the cell surface to promote interaction with other receptors for virus entry and infection. There is increasing evidence to suggest that multiple

Human metapneumovirus (hMPV) is an important human respiratory pathogen and is implicated in an array of respiratory illnesses, ranging from asymptomatic infection to severe bronchiolitis. Currently, there is no reliable vaccine or specific antiviral therapy for hMPV infection and treatment
