General description

Potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) (Potassium ferricyanide) can be prepared by the anodic oxidation of K4[Fe(CN)6].

Application

Potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) [Potassium ferricyanide] has been used as an oxidant in the preparation of diethidium and di-mito-ethidium. It reacts with cobalt chloride hexahydrate to afford CoHCF (Cobalt hexacyanoferrate) nanoparticles.
It may be employed as an oxidizing agent during the fabrication of glucose conductometric biosensor.
