General description

N-Lauroylsarcosine (N-Dodecanoyl-N-methylglycine, Sarkosyl L, LS) is an anionic surfactant. Its microbicidal action against herpes simplex type 2 (HSV-2) intravaginal infection in a murine model has been investigated.

Application

N-Lauroylsarcosine may be used as a permeation enhancer in the transdermal drug delivery formulations since it increases the fluidity of stratum corneum lipid structure of the skin

More than 100 different mutations in Cu,Zn-superoxide dismutase (SOD1) are linked to a familial form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (fALS). Pathogenic mutations facilitate fibrillar aggregation of SOD1, upon which significant structural changes of SOD1 have been assumed; in general, however

To develop formulations for transdermal drug delivery, this study tested the hypothesis that the anionic surfactant, N-lauroylsarcosine (NLS), and ethanol synergistically increase skin permeability by increasing the fluidity of stratum corneum lipid structure. Skin permeability experiments showed that transdermal delivery
